Who We Are
Born in the halls of Augsburg College in the beating heart of Minneapolis, Bluehound is a seven piece Indie Soul band that delivers a powerful and passionate sound unlike any other. With influences ranging from alternative rock to soul to hip hop to jazz, this band provides a grooving rhythm section and a hard hitting horn line backing up the soulful lyrical melodies of one of the best singers you'll ever hear. Bluehound brings together seven expert musicians from diverse walks of life and musical culture and creates a musical force that has to be heard to be believed. So come join in on the musical experience that is Bluehound.
-
Alex Bouvier
Altitude Specialist • Treble Maker
-
Nathaniel Gillen
Shred Technician • One Solo Away from Catching Fire
Hailing from the frosty cerulean lands of Lakeville, Minnesota, Nathaniel allegedly made a mysterious late-night deal at a crossroads—conveniently located in a Kwik Trip parking lot—to trade something (possibly his ability to do basic math or enjoy any amount of caffeine) for ungodly guitar skills. Since then, he’s been melting faces and confusing small-town locals with solos so fiery they’ve been blamed for at least two mild snowmelts. Equal parts blues wizard, groove crafter, and tone-chasing madman, Nathaniel brings the kind of six-string sorcery that makes you wonder what else he left behind at that gas station.

Andy Meyer
The Saxuality Spectrum • Transverse Flute • Sprechstimme
Andy Meyer is either the result of an experiment where mad scientists tried to teach a caveman how to play every instrument they could or just a normal adult who spent all of his free time as a kid learning music instead of making friends. Regardless of his backstory, Andy provides the band with a much needed dose of saxuality, with an occasional yazz flute solo, and even some singing when the moon is right.

Noah Quam
Melodic Howls • Ivories • Stationary Dancing
Noah helped kick off Bluehound over a decade ago with nothing but a keyboard, a mic, and a dream of funky tunes. He was raised in Minneapolis on a strict diet of piano lessons, harmonies, and dramatic exits from musical theater stages. Over the years, he’s refined his skills as a performer—so much so that he’s been known to subtly rewrite lyrics mid-song without missing a beat.
-
Aaron Rosell
Cowbell • Rainstick
Hailing from the dirt-road horse country of Stillwater/Mahtomedi, Aaron was raised by a large cabal of pocket gophers and taught to speak by pounding the earth in a series of brief, percussive slaps. Bluehound has managed to socialize Aaron within reasonable parameters over the past 5 years, but you can only do so much with a man who came of age in an extensive series of underground tunnels. We try not to make eye contact with Aaron, though he responds well to the occasional Old Fashioned.

Dan Rowe
Spit Valve Supervisor • Brass-Baritone Combo Deal
-
Matthew Zyla
Slap Specialist • Groove Architect
Born and raised in the Twin Cities, Matthew has been playing some form of instrument since he was five years old. Eventually, he found the bass just before he joined Bluehound in 2015. A decade later, Matthew honed his skills not just in music but also as the technical backbone of the band, specing sound, lighting, and technicians for weddings and other private events that Bluehound plays. Matthew has also been known to keep other members on-task by staring at them with unblinking and mild disapproval.
